Our nurse was cute and talkative, and Elise loved her. She started with an oral vaccine that she said tasted sugary. Little Bit drank it with gusto and grinned up at her new friend the whole time. Then came the shots--two in the left thigh. The nurse moved so fast that Elise didn't cry at first, then she realized what happened and broke down for a few seconds. I popped in the binky and gave her loves, and she calmed right down. Two Bugs Bunny band-aids, $10 donation and a complementary rattle later, the kid was all smiles.
I took a few pictures at home to commemorate the event, and noticed the words printed on the rattle in English and Spanish: "Please don't smoke around me!" Nice. Thank you Tippecanoe County Health Department!
